a compilation of a collection of pressed Queen Anne's lace and four leaf-clover, tumbled rocks and a found poem called "My Flower" arranged and sealed in layers of clear, black, and white encaustic medium to commemorate a year of homeschool
Homeschool Collection
a collection of broken clam and oyster shells of varying gray and tan hues arranged with one smaller shard fastened to a contrasting larger shard, placed in a visually pleasing arrangement on a rough-cut square wood panel with encaustic medium layered over top and visually suggesting wet snow on a beach; a twisted piece of twine is attached with mismatched screws to the top and side to serve as the hanging hardware for this piece
Never Too Cold for a Beachcomber
a square mixed media painting of cream, gold, silver, and burgundy that has various circular found objects layered over top of each other, two are mirrors, smaller ones along the edge have holes through the center and some are strung onto the split wire arm of a figure appearing to be turned away from the other arm which is as long as the entire height of the figure and outstretched at a very straight right angle reaching between the two mirrors and appearing to point with its spring-like twisted hand and pointer finger to the underside of a clearly visible golden disc at the top of a heap of less distinguishable discs
Underneath
a square mixed media painting of cream, gold, silver, and burgundy that has various circular found objects layered over top of each other, two are mirrors, smaller ones along the edge have holes through the center and some are strung onto the split wire arm of a figure appearing to be turned away from the other arm which is as long as the entire height of the figure and outstretched at a very straight right angle reaching between the two mirrors and appearing to point with its spring-like twisted hand and pointer finger to the underside of a clearly visible golden disc at the top of a heap of less distinguishable discs
Underneath (detail)
a square low-relief mixed media painting divided in half by a collection of found beach objects each with a notable pair of holes, as well as black leather cord and black text reading "me," "me," "Then you"; the background of the top left is gold and copper leaf and of the bottom right is bright yellow
Me First
a square low-relief mixed media painting divided in half by a collection of found beach objects each with a notable pair of holes, as well as black leather cord and black text reading "me," "me," "Then you"; the background of the top left is gold and copper leaf and of the bottom right is bright yellow
Me First (detail)
a square low-relief mixed media encaustic painting of cream, turquoise, green and ochre with the iridescent purple of muscle shells that are oriented vertically across the bottom from left to right gradually laying horizontally and appearing to float away; two pieces of similarly sized turquoise glass shards are arranged above the shells and outlined in black that mimic the black of a ray-like, radial arrangement of bent rusty nails arranged small to large and back to small around the top right edge of a circular mirror embedded slightly off-center into the teal-black encaustic medium of the bottom; there are two concave circular scoops out of the wax - one at the top left, the other down to the right of the mirror - revealing the golden wood below
